SERIAN: The Manpower Department’s (JTM) Advanced Technology Training Centre (Adtec) Serian Campus is strengthening its commitment to human capital development through collaboration with nine strategic partners, including Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (PETROS).

Serian Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, commended the initiative, saying it would boost the quality and credibility of graduates produced by Adtec Serian.

He expressed optimism that the signing of memoranda of understanding and agreement with industry players would also contribute to Sarawak’s economic growth.

“I believe this collaboration between Adtec Serian and nine strategic partners, including an international institution from Indonesia, will help propel Sarawak, particularly Serian.

“It will also support Malaysia’s aspiration of becoming an industrialised nation,” he told reporters after officiating the partnership exchange event here today.

The event witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with local architectural firm, PDC Design Sdn Bhd.

In addition, three Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) were exchanged with SCIB Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, One Medicare Sdn Bhd, and GS-TECH Engineering Sdn Bhd.

Adtec Serian also formalised four Letters of Intent (LoI) with regional and local institutions: Politeknik Negeri Pontianak, Indonesia; i-CATS University College; Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS); Akademi Binaan Malaysia Wilayah Sarawak; as well as local oil and gas company, PETROS.

Campus director, Mohd Azmi Pelah, said the partnerships reflected the importance of synergy between industry and education in producing a competent and competitive workforce.

“This collaboration will facilitate knowledge transfer, technology exchange, and expertise sharing between academia and industry,” he said.

“These agreements will pave the way for industrial training opportunities, joint research initiatives and stronger employment pathways for our graduates.

“Innovation and research, especially in technical fields such as engineering, health, energy and sustainable technology, will also be strengthened,” he said.

Azmi further noted that cross-border collaboration with partners in Indonesia would help build stronger regional networks, and open up wider opportunities across Borneo and beyond.
