BAU: Tennis enthusiasts here can now rejoice with the completion of a state-of-the-art Class A covered tennis court in Kampung Tanjong Singai.

Deputy Minister of Transport and avid tennis enthusiast Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said this newly constructed tennis court, the first of its kind in Sarawak, will significantly enhance interest and participation, particularly among the youth in this sport.

“The construction of a youth hall in Kampung Tanjong Singai with an international standard tennis court aims to provide the local community with a facility for tennis matches in any weather conditions, including at night.”

He made these remarks during his speech at the launch of the Kampung Tanjong Singai Youth Hall held in Kampung Tanjong Bowang recently.

Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, added that the court, named Love All Tennis Court, is open to residents in the Bau area who wish to play and improve their skills in this sport.

Furthermore, he highlighted that residents in the area can contribute to boosting the sports tourism sector by constructing a longhouse-themed hostel near the hall.

“This would not only cater to tennis players but also to mountain climbers seeking accommodation.”

Following the ceremony, Henry, along with 47 other participants, took part in the Bau Tennis Championship organised by the Uplands Tennis Club.
