KUCHING: The Sarawak Government has reinforced frontline emergency response capabilities by donating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) unit to the Sarawak Brigade of the General Operations Force (GOF).

The handover ceremony took place at the Sarawak GOF Brigade Headquarters’ Health Clinic, where Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian presented the equipment to Sarawak GOF Deputy Commander, ACP Rosdi Inai.

Dr Sim, who is also the Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said the contribution was part of the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its health logistics preparedness, particularly for frontline security forces who often operate in high-risk environments.

“GOF personnel are not only responsible for maintaining public security, but they must also be ready to respond to medical emergencies.

“Having an AED on hand greatly improves the chances of saving lives during cardiac arrest situations,” he said.

Dr Sim further stressed the importance of continuous training in the use of AEDs to ensure the equipment can be effectively utilised when needed.

Meanwhile, Rosdi expressed his gratitude to the Sarawak Government, calling the contribution a meaningful recognition of GOF’s vital role in upholding public order and safety.

The donation is expected to enhance the Sarawak GOF Brigade’s capacity to manage on-field medical emergencies, in line with the state government’s commitment to strengthen health and safety support for frontline personnel across the region.
