THE payment of zakat is an obligation for all able Muslims and zakat consists of several parts, namely, income zakat, business zakat, EPF zakat, gold zakat, and others.

Recently, one of Malaysia’s famous actors and entrepreneurs, Aeril Zafrel, was seen paying zakat for himself, his wife and his company for this year.

Through a post uploaded on Instagram, Aeril and his wife, Wawa Zainal were seen handing over a business zakat payment of RM1 million to the Selangor Zakat Board.

Wawa hoped the zakat could help those in need.

“This fortune we make is not only for ourselves but there is a portion for those who are in greater need.

Zakat is one way to purify wealth and help those in hardship,” she said.

Meanwhile, Aeril said that the zakat paid would ensure that their business was always blessed.

“As entrepreneurs, we want to ensure our business journey is always blessed.

Paying the zakat not only fulfils a religious obligation but also gives us peace of mind in seeking sustenance,” he explained Since its establishment in 2016, Wawa Cosmetics has rapidly grown to become one of the most popular cosmetic brands in Malaysia.

In addition to focusing on highquality products, the husband-andwife company is also committed to social responsibility, including various charitable and community activities.

It is hoped Wawa and Aeril’s example will inspire other entrepreneurs to always pay their zakat as one of the important aspects of a Muslim’s life.
