KUCHING: The Sarawak AeroBig Day is set to return with greater purpose and reach this year, aiming to unite Sarawakians through fitness, charity and community spirit.

Organised by Bantu Sarawak in collaboration with the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department (KBS), and supported by Life Event Borneo and JVY Event Management, the event will take place across four divisions, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, and Kuching, from Sept 28 to Oct 19.

The organisers are targeting a turnout of 3,500 participants this year, more than the 2,800 who took part in 2024.

KBS director, Lamat Nyalau, said the upcoming aerobic event is a bigger step forward in mobilising Sarawakians to contribute meaningfully to society.

“Sarawak AeroBig Day will always have our support because it promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.

“Our department’s role is aligned with this vision of making fitness and wellness part of everyday life,” he said on Tuesday (April 6).

He praised Bantu Sarawak for going beyond the traditional idea of aerobics by using the event as a platform for inclusivity and charitable efforts.

“What Bantu Sarawak is doing stands out. Aerobics usually focuses on fitness, but they are using it as a tool to embrace diversity and channel support back to underprivileged communities,” he added.

The Founder of Bantu Sarawak, Jeffry Ngui, is hopeful the initiative will encourage more participation.

“Our mission is to support communities in need, but as we know, funding is always a challenge.

“So, we created AeroBig Day with affordable registration fees as low as RM10 to make it inclusive.

“A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities,” said Ngui.

He emphasised that the aim of the event is not merely to generate profit but to reignite social values and trust in community solidarity.

“We are thankful for every participant, and their registration alone becomes a contribution that enables our charitable efforts to move forward.

“I hope this year’s AeroBig Day will inspire more good and receive widespread support,” he said.

Participants can look forward to exclusive event T-shirts showcasing clean, dynamic designs inspired by Sarawak’s identity and proudly incorporating the colours of the state flag.

Instead of traditional bibs, wristbands will serve as participant IDs, doubling as wearable keepsakes, while each package also includes a commemorative memento to mark their participation in the event.

Registration is now open via CheckPointSpot and will go on until Aug 31, with early bird rates available until June 4.

Category A costs RM50 (RM45 early bird) and includes a T-shirt, wristband, and memento.

Category B is priced at RM35 (RM30 early bird) and includes a T-shirt and wristband.

Category C offers a more affordable option at RM15 (RM10 early bird), with a complimentary wristband.

Students may also register for only RM10 via manual registration, with details available on Bantu Sarawak’s official social media pages.
