RENOWNED director and actor, Datuk Afdlin Shauki, 54, has denied any wrongdoing in connection with a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) project, following viral claims on social media.

In an Instagram statement, Afdlin dismissed the allegations as slander aimed at damaging his reputation.

“I strongly deny any misconduct in this project. This is an attempt by irresponsible parties driven by envy and resentment to tarnish my name.”

He confirmed that he had filed a police report and stated that DBKL was also investigating the matter internally.

Afdlin assured his full cooperation with enforcement agencies and urged the public to allow authorities to do their job.

“This baseless accusation should not spread. I believe the truth will prevail and justice will be served,” he added.

The claims, initially shared on Telegram’s Edisi Siasat, alleged that Afdlin, who is also a member of the DBKL Advisory Board, was involved the improper procurement of a DBKL creative materials project worth over RM10 million, raising concerns over transparency.

Following this, the Malaysian Corruption Watch (MCW) has called for a thorough, independent investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
