KUCHING: AFFIN Group has received significant recognition from Toastmasters International for its commitment to enhancing employee engagement through the sponsorship of the AFFIN Toastmasters Club.

The award, presented on April 29 at Menara AFFIN @ TRX, Kuala Lumpur, acknowledges the Group’s ongoing efforts to support communication and leadership development for its employees.

Presenting the award, Distinguished Toastmaster International President-Elect of Toastmasters International, Aletta Rochat, praised AFFIN Group for its dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning within the workplace.

“Corporations from around the world have formed symbiotic relationships with Toastmasters.

“By sponsoring a club at their workplace, AFFIN Group is allowing the Toastmasters programme to help improve employees’ leadership, communication and public speaking skills.

“By dedicating time and resources to supporting AFFIN Toastmasters Club, they provide further learning and growth opportunities at an affordable cost, setting themselves up for long-term success, and maximising their talent,” she said.

The AFFIN Toastmasters Club, which convenes twice monthly at Menara AFFIN, offers employees the opportunity to hone vital skills, including conducting effective meetings, practising time management, enhancing listening abilities, sharpening presentation skills, boosting team collaboration, and guiding successful teams.

Commenting on the recognition, AFFIN Group Chief People Officer, Mohd Syukri Ahmad Sudari, emphasised the Group’s commitment to its people.

Meanwhile, AFFIN Toastmasters Club President, Afdlin Azmei, shared his personal experience, noting the programme’s role in building his confidence and public speaking abilities.

“Toastmasters has been instrumental in building my confidence and public speaking abilities. It offers a supportive environment where we are encouraged to learn and grow without fear of making mistakes.

“I hope more colleagues and professionals will embark on this rewarding journey,” he said.

For the record, the award ceremony was officiated by AFFIN Bank Bhd Chairman, Datuk Agil Natt, and witnessed by Syukri.

The AFFIN Toastmasters Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6:00 pm at Menara AFFIN, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuala Lumpur.
