KUCHING: AFFIN Group is set to launch the Affin Pickleball Tournament 2025 this August, tapping into the sport’s rapidly growing popularity across the nation.
Announcing the plan during the AFFIN50 Pickleball With Media – Sarawak Edition, AFFIN Group president and Group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah said the tournament would be a platform for friendship, connections, and healthy competition.
“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports globally, and we hope to make it a platform for even more friendship, connections, and healthy competition.
“Whether you are picking up the paddle for the first time, or already a seasoned player, what truly matters is the spirit you bring to the court,” he said at the event last night (Apr 26).
Wan Razly highlighted the importance of camaraderie and fun, noting that beyond competition, the tournament promises “a little friendly rivalry, a lot of laughter, and perhaps the discovery of hidden talents.”
The announcement came on the eve of another major milestone for the group — the launch of its eighth branch in Sarawak at ICOM Square, which will be officiated by Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
Reflecting on AFFIN’s broader mission, Wan Razly reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting businesses of all sizes through innovation and digital solutions, aimed at simplifying daily life and expanding opportunities.
“Tonight is about more than just a game — it’s about coming together, building new friendships, and having a little fun along the way.
“We wanted to do something different this time…To connect in a more relaxed and casual setting,” he said.
