MOSCOW: The death toll among Afghan troops in clashes with Pakistani armed forces has risen to 435, with over 630 people injured, Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said.
“Summary of Afghan Taliban losses: 435 Killed, 630+ Injured,” Tarar said on X on Monday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
He added that the Pakistani military destroyed 188 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns.
Last week, Pakistan carried out airstrikes on suspected militant hideouts in the Afghan provinces of Nangarhar and Paktika. According to Afghan authorities, dozens of civilians were killed and wounded in the strikes. On Thursday night, Afghanistan launched a military operation against Pakistani bases located along the Durand Line in response to the bombings. Pakistan announced the launch of Operation Ghazab lil Haq in response to what it called “unprovoked shelling” by Afghanistan in several border sectors.
On Friday morning, the Afghan Defence Ministry announced the end of the military operation against Pakistan, claiming that Afghanistan had delivered “decisive strikes” in response to the “arrogant aggression of the Pakistani military regime against Afghan territory, which resulted in the deaths of innocent women and children.” The Afghan Defence Ministry said that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed and put its losses at eight dead and 13 wounded. – BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
