KUCHING: The Federal Government is in the final stage of finalising an agreement with Muar Member of Parliament (MP), Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, on his constituency’s funding allocation, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said that while Syed Saddiq had formally submitted a letter and met with him over the matter, no response had been received from the other MPs.
“Insya-Allah, it will be resolved for Syed Saddiq because he has responded.
“In principle, he has agreed to several matters, and we are in the process of finalising the agreement.
“Hopefully, we can conclude this soon. So far, he is the only one who has responded.
“I have not received anything from the others. Syed Saddiq has already sent a letter and met with me,” he said.
He told the media this when attending the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) Friendly Neighbourhood’s ‘bubur pedas’ distribution programme at Satok Sports Complex here today.
Fadillah’s statement comes after reports that Syed Saddiq had taken an unconventional approach to securing aid for his constituents.
Without government-provided resources, he claimed that he had participated in a Hari Raya clothing campaign with local fashion brand PrimaValet, receiving donations worth over RM1 million.
The contributions, primarily in the form of clothes and food hampers, were distributed to residents in Muar.
