Agriculture Department holds Integrity Day 2019

KUCHING: The Department of Agriculture Sarawak is committed to preserving the integrity and empowerment of organisational governance among its employees at all levels through various related programmes.

A step taken by the department was the holding of Sarawak Agriculture Department Level Integrity Day 2019 here recently.

A total of 200 management and professional officers, district superintendents and general managers of 28 Area Farmers Organizations (PPK) took part in the event.

In their integrity pledge they were led by the department’s acting director Dr Alvin Chai Lian Kuet, deputy director (commercialisation) Ngab Dollah, and deputy director (management services) Salmah Jobeli.

The Integrity Day was aimed at enhancing the participants’ awareness and understanding of the importance of good values ​​and integrity in the performance of their duties and responsibilities as civil servants.

It also reminded the participants about integrity in the workplace and creating awareness of a good code of conduct.

In his speech that day, Dr Alvin said the public service always faced increasingly complex and challenging current reality.

“Efficiency, transparency and integrity are demanded of those in public service. In fact, integrity has been identified as one of the basic values ​​in efforts to make Sarawak’s public service a world class one,” he said.

Hence, he recommended that integrity be imbibed in the department in its day-to-day practice to create an environment that is conducive to the cultivation of good values.

Among other things that happened that day were Buddy Games under Sas Rizal from CJ Global Venture, a talk by former public education director Datuk Abdul Samat Kasah, and a speech entitled “Tumbuk Rusuk, Duit Panadol” by guest speaker, Mohd Firdaus Ramlan.

The programme ended with a prize presentation ceremony for winners in the Buddy Games.
