KUCHING: Xeo Air founder and Chief Executive Officer, Bronwyn Morgan, stressed that artificial intelligence (AI) technology can have a significant impact on the people of Sarawak, even though the state is smaller compared to the global market.

She shared her views during a knowledge-sharing session organised by Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak and the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).

Morgan visited Sarawak as part of a programme by the US Department of State and the US Embassy in Malaysia, specifically to share insights on artificial intelligence, leadership and entrepreneurship.

“I am so excited to come here and share some of this insight because this is the work that I do,” she said at the closing ceremony of ‘Sarawak’s Global Leap: Innovation Driving Inclusive Growth in Emerging Economies’ at The Round Tower today.

She stressed that AI will influence every layer of society worldwide, including smaller regions like Sarawak.

“AI will touch everybody on this planet, in every little corner, from the largest cities in the world to the smallest villages. It is important that we all understand what’s coming, how to work with it, how to leverage it, and be prepared for it,” she added.

Commenting on the role of AI in driving economic and social innovation, Morgan said the technology can act as a digital partner to help communities advance operations and processes.

According to her, AI can now provide answers to questions that once required extensive resources, making solutions available at one’s fingertips.

However, she also reminded the public to use AI responsibly.

“AI is the future; it will be the future of jobs. There is a requirement and a need for AI experts from a technology perspective, ethics perspective, and the social use of artificial intelligence,” she said.

“Therefore, it is imperative that everyone embraces and adapts to this new technology.”
