MUKAH: The main road to Engkerbai has been cut off due to flooding, making it difficult for the residents of Engkerbai and Lubok Bemban to reach their longhouses and schools in the area.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, said that this situation has caused difficulties for residents who rely on the road for their daily needs.
“To assist the affected residents, I have handed over food baskets to the Mukah Department of Social Welfare (JKM) and the Civil Defence Force (APM) for coordination and distribution to the victims.
“I hope that this assistance will help alleviate the burden of flood victims, especially those in need,” she said during her inspection at Jalan Tajam, Engkerbai, which was affected by the flood today.
Hanifah, who is also Mukah MP, said that the area is a focus for their team, and they are prepared to provide assistance if the situation worsens.
In this regard, she encouraged the Mukah community to contact the relevant agencies and departments to ensure that aid can be channelled quickly to those in need.
She hoped that the affected residents will face this challenge with resilience and receive the necessary assistance.
