MIRI: Yayasan Hasanah, in collaboration with Yayasan Foodbank Malaysia, has provided essential aid to 26 students from various schools in Miri.

These students, who have been affected by recent floods, landslides, and are from underprivileged (asnaf) communities, received much-needed school supplies earlier this week to ensure their education is not disrupted.

The initiative, backed by Dewan Usahawan Bumiputera Sarawak (DUBS) Miri, identified beneficiaries from several schools, including SK Miri, SK Tudan, SK Kg Bakam, SK Merbau, SMK Merbau, and SMK Dato Permaisuri.

Representatives from DUBS Miri were also present during the distribution event recently, highlighting the community’s united front in this endeavour.

The school supplies were sourced from Pusat Pakaian Hari-Hari, a strategic partner in this initiative.

On behalf of Yayasan Foodbank Malaysia, general manager Yang Rafidah Othman expressed her appreciation, stating, “Pusat Pakaian Hari-Hari has been a valuable partner, offering significant discounts to ensure more students benefit from our initiative.”

This programme forms part of the Misi Banjir Borneo, a series of flood relief efforts across Sarawak and Sabah.

Miri is the second destination following Kuching, aiming to reach more affected communities and provide essential support to those in need.

Yayasan Hasanah and Yayasan Foodbank Malaysia remain committed to fostering community resilience and ensuring that no child is left behind in their pursuit of education.

They aspire to continue this mission, bringing positive change to more lives through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts.
