KUCHING: Adriana Roseline, a two-year-old girl suffering from malnutrition and anaemia, has received assistance following a recent visit by Hope Place Kuching, accompanied by a social worker from Klinik Kesihatan Batu Kawa, to her home at RPR Maliha.
Adriana lives in a rented flat with her parents and two older siblings. Medical checks found that she is significantly underweight and anaemic.
Her mother, Roseline, 36, said Adriana has been relying mainly on mother’s milk, with limited intake of formula and solid food, resulting in insufficient nutrition for her age.
Roseline also shared that she experienced postpartum psychosis after giving birth and continues to undergo treatment, including oral medication for hallucinations.
Adriana’s father, Nisom, 46, works at a hardware store and earns a minimum monthly wage.
“I work seven days a week to support the family,” he said.
The couple’s two older children, Oliver, 16, and Sophia, six, are not currently attending school. Oliver was never registered at birth and does not have a birth certificate, while Sophia is expected to enrol next year.
At home, Oliver takes on most household responsibilities, including cooking and washing, while assisting his mother.
“When he was small, I took care of him. Now that he’s grown, he takes care of me,” Roseline said.
Hope Place is supporting the family with essential food aid and milk powder for Adriana.
