KUCHING: Second-placed Kuching City FC will head to Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium this Saturday (Apr 25), determined to stay on track in the Malaysia Super League.
Head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak has urged his squad to remain humble despite their strong position in the league.
Fresh from securing a place in the Malaysia Cup final after a 2-1 aggregate win over Selangor FC last weekend, Aidil said the team must not lose focus on their league campaign, stressing that consistent hard work on the training ground remains key to improvement.
“We just have to stay humble but keep working hard on the pitch. You only improve by training as a team,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted today (Apr 24).
Kuching City currently sit second in the league standings with 43 points, while their opponents, Brunei DPMM FC are eighth with 22 points after 20 matches.
Despite winning three of their last four meetings against DPMM this season, Aidil warned that previous results would have little bearing on Saturday’s encounter.
“Yes, that’s only past record, but this Saturday is a new ball game. We come here with a plan on what to do in both halves,” he added.
With DPMM expected to be eager for a strong response on home ground, Aidil believes discipline and sticking to the game plan will be crucial as Kuching City look to continue their strong league form.
