KUCHING: Kuching City FC head coach, Aidil Sharin Sahak, likened the club’s steady growth to nurturing a plant, highlighting the patient work behind the team’s historic Malaysia Cup semi-final run.
“First, we need to thank our president (club chairman, Datuk Fazzruddin Abdul Rahman). He has been doing very well. We’ve been communicating a lot about how we want to build this team from day one.
“Today, we can see it’s growing – like pouring water into a plant, it’s getting better and healthier. We just need to be patient,” he told a post-match press conference last night (Feb 14) at the Sarawak State Stadium.
Aidil added that while the team has delivered strong results, there is still room for improvement both on and off the pitch.
“Our president encourages the players and puts in a lot of effort by coming down, and we are trying our best,” he said.

Looking ahead to the semi-final against Selangor FC, Aidil acknowledged the challenge.
“Selangor is a big team. It’s not going to be easy, especially at the MBPJ Stadium. Today we heard they beat Negeri Sembilan five-nil. So, this is another big challenge for us.
“From here, we need to analyse how we can play against them and take it one game at a time,” he said.
The Cats advanced to the Malaysia Cup semi-finals with a 3-1 home win over DPMM FC, following a 3-1 victory in the first leg in Bandar Seri Begawan.
