KUCHING: Kuching City FC’s head coach, Aidil Sharin, is keeping his players grounded as his squad turn their focus to PDRM FC in the Malaysian Super League tomorrow (Saturday, November 1).
The Cats secured a historic FA Cup semi-final spot with a 5-3 aggregate win over Terengganu FC on Tuesday, despite a 2-1 defeat in the second leg at the Sarawak State Stadium, Petra Jaya.
Aidil said the team now needs to quickly recover and refocus for their next challenge, acknowledging the tight turnaround and limited squad depth.
“We need to see who is fresh and who is not. If changes are needed, we’ll make them.
“We don’t have the best recovery system, and we travel a lot, but that’s football. We just have to manage with what we have,” he said in a post-match press conference recently.
He added that maintaining focus and managing fatigue will be key ahead of the clash at Majlis Perbandaran Selayang Stadium, Selangor.
The Singaporean coach also highlighted the importance of learning from recent mistakes despite their progress in the cup competition.
“Even top clubs lose games – that’s part of football. What matters is that we learn and come back stronger.
“The positive thing is, even though we lost, we still qualified. That shows the team’s progress and character,” he said.
Kuching City will face a hardworking PDRM FC side tomorrow at 9:00 pm at MP Selayang Stadium, with Aidil hoping his players can carry their momentum into league action.
