SARIBAS: Approximately 200 residents attended the Kampung Serembang Aidilfitri gathering on Friday, highlighting the celebration’s vital role in fostering unity and social cohesion within rural communities.
Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, stated that such programmes are more than just festive traditions; they serve as essential platforms for strengthening social networks and community ties.
“Programmes like this are not only about celebrating Aidilfitri but also serve as a medium to strengthen unity and the spirit of ‘muafakat’ (consensus) within the community,” he said during the event held at the Kampung Serembang Futsal Hall.
Razi emphasised that Aidilfitri celebrations should be leveraged to promote mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation among residents to ensure the overall wellbeing of the community.
He also stressed the importance of proactive and inclusive village leadership, urging leaders to listen to the views and needs of the people to ensure development initiatives are implemented effectively.
“The involvement of the community in contributing ideas and suggestions is crucial so that every planned initiative truly benefits the local residents,” he added.
The event was organised by the Kampung Serembang Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) in collaboration with various local organisations, including community and youth groups.
This joint effort reflects the strong community cohesion and spirit of unity central to Sarawak’s aspirations for inclusive and harmonious development.
