BELAGA: Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations here took on deeper significance as state leaders went to the ground to strengthen unity and engage with the district’s multi-racial and multi-religious communities.

Belaga assemblyman, Datuk Liwan Lagang, accompanied by his wife, Datin Rosnie Bilang, led a visit to Muslim communities in Kampung Melayu and Kampung Hijrah Jaya on Saturday.

The delegation included Senator Michael Mujah Lihan and his wife Annie Igang, Belaga District Office representative Zain Rocky, as well as local community leaders.

During the visit, they called on several community leaders, including Temenggong Ajang Sirek, Penghulu Abu Talip Mokhtar, Datuk Awang Bujang Awang Antek, and other local heads.

Liwan, who is also the Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, said Aidilfitri visits go beyond tradition, serving as an important platform to strengthen ties, promote mutual respect, and reinforce unity among communities.

He added that such ground engagements also provide opportunities for leaders to interact directly with the people and better understand their needs and aspirations.
