SIBU: A group of street boys who are barely out of puberty are not only aggressive and loitering aimlessly but were reportedly causing nuisance by damaging cars, especially breaking the windscreens, if their demands for money (extorting acts) were not entertained.

They are also believed to be heavily indulging in glue sniffing around town and have become the talk of the town. Some of their photos also have gone viral in the social media, especially facebook. As such members of the public here are very anxious and concerned about their misdemeanour, especially when being committed at a very tender age.

Sibu District Police chief ACP Saiful Bahari Abdullah said his men here had succeeded in arresting a boy aged about 12 but the rest of his (the suspect’) accomplices managed to escape arrest.

“Our investigation reveals that the suspect doesn’t have an identity document. He was arrested due to allegedly causing public disturbance,” the police chief explained.

He disclosed this when speaking to Utusan Sarawak/New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

ACP Saiful stressed the police are seriously containing the matter and would leave no stone unturned pertaining to the arrest of the accomplices still at large.

“This morning I just issued an order for our men in blue to conduct patrols around town area to trace their whereabouts. They won’t be able to escape from the long arm of the law. They can run but they cannot hide,” the local police chief pointed out.
