KUCHING: AirAsia hosted an iftar gathering with Sarawak media practitioners, drawing about 120 guests at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here last night (Mar 5).
The group included strategic partners comprising Sarawak government officials and members of the media, in an evening of networking held alongside the venue’s Ramadan buffet crowd.
The event, titled ‘AirAsia Lan Sungkey, began at 6pm, with guests breaking fast at 6.54pm.
It was held in a large hall that also hosted diners who had booked the hotel’s Ramadan buffet programme, ‘Iftar Ramadan: Juh Berambeh’.
The shared setting created a familiar iftar atmosphere, with steady movement around buffet stations, tables filled across the hall, and conversations carrying over the clink of plates and cutlery.
With the spread served buffet-style, guests moved between stations throughout the evening, giving the session a relaxed, come-and-go feel rather than a fixed programme.
Without the usual speeches or stage programme, the focus stayed on the dining experience and easy conversation at the table.
Also present were Tourism Malaysia Sarawak director Rubiah Tul Adwiyah Md Yusof and Deputy State Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Muhamad Abdullah Zaidel.
AirAsia is scheduled to continue the engagement by hosting a similar iftar session with media practitioners in Sabah today (Mar 6).
