KUCHING: AirBorneo flights will begin operating under new MY flight codes from Jan 14 as the airline transitions from the MH code series previously used under the MASwings system.
Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said flights currently listed under the MH3000 series will be reflected as MY3000 series flights following AirBorneo’s migration to its own Departure Control System (DCS).
He said the transition is part of AirBorneo’s move into its next operational phase and will not disrupt flight operations or affect passengers.
“I have been briefed that all systems will remain fully operational throughout the transition, and passengers travelling during this period will not experience any changes to their itineraries,” he said after receiving an operational briefing and courtesy call from AirBorneo’s newly appointed chief executive officer, Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin, here on Tuesday (Jan 13).
According to Lee, AirBorneo’s management assured the ministry that the DCS cutover scheduled for Jan 14 will be implemented seamlessly, with no impact on flight schedules, bookings or passenger services.
He added that the system migration from the former MASwings platform to the AirBorneo DCS will be carried out simultaneously across all 21 airports in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan served by the airline.
“Airport check-in counters will continue to operate as usual, although passengers may notice updated flight information displays and signage reflecting the AirBorneo branding and MY flight numbers.”
Lee also welcomed Megat in his new role as AirBorneo CEO and expressed confidence in the airline’s leadership.
“The ministry looks forward to working closely with AirBorneo’s management to ensure operational stability, service reliability and a smooth passenger experience, while further strengthening regional connectivity.”
