KUCHING: Sarawak-owned airline, AirBorneo, is inviting the public to unleash their creativity by participating in its Logo and Livery Design Competition which will shape the visual identity of the state’s new aviation pride.
The competition comes after an overwhelming display of enthusiasm by Sarawakians on social media following the announcement of AirBorneo’s establishment.
Designs celebrating Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty have already captured the imagination of many.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, expressed his excitement about the public engagement initiative.
“I’ve seen netizens sharing their creative livery designs on social media, and I must say, all the designs are beautiful and inspiring. To tap into this enthusiasm, we will create a competition to find the best livery designs for AirBorneo,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Abang Johari emphasised that this competition reflects Sarawak’s commitment to fostering community involvement in shaping the airline’s identity while showcasing the state’s unique heritage and forward-thinking vision.
Chairman of AirBorneo, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said AirBorneo is not just an airline as it is a symbol of Sarawak’s aspirations and unity.
“Through this competition, we aim to incorporate the creativity and passion of our people into our brand. We encourage everyone to participate and make their mark on history,” he said.
The statement explained that the competition will include two categories namely logo design and aircraft livery design.
“Participants are encouraged to incorporate elements that reflect Sarawak’s vibrant culture, heritage, biodiversity, eco-friendly values, connectivity and spirit of AirBorneo.
“Winning designs will receive special recognition, attractive prizes, and the prestigious opportunity to see their artwork take flight across the skies,” it said.
The competition is open to individuals and teams from all backgrounds. All designs must be original and inspired by Sarawak.
The submission deadline is Monday, March 17 and entries must be submitted via email to admin@airborneo.com.
