KUCHING: Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee described his first AirBorneo flight as “a wonderful taste of home at 35,000 feet”, praising the airline for bringing Sarawak’s hospitality and flavours onboard.
Sharing his experience on Facebook, Hii said he took his maiden AirBorneo flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Kuching, calling it a proud moment to travel on Sarawak’s own airline.
He said passengers were welcomed with a calamansi drink and mixed nuts upon boarding before being served local-inspired cuisine during the flight.
“I chose the Dry Laksa Sarawak, paired with a refreshing iced teh tarik. It was a wonderful taste of home at 35,000 feet,” he wrote.
Hii also praised the cheesecake dessert and the aircraft’s spacious leather seats, saying they made for a comfortable and pleasant journey.
Congratulating those who worked to make AirBorneo a reality, he said the airline represented more than just a new carrier.
“This is another important milestone in strengthening Sarawak’s connectivity, identity and aspirations,” he said.
He expressed hope that AirBorneo would introduce more direct flights from Kuching to regional destinations, saying improved connectivity would create greater opportunities for tourism, business and investment.
“The journey has only just begun, and the skies ahead look bright,” he added.
