KUCHING: The National Academy of Nationhood Malaysia (AKM) and the Sarawak government are strengthening their strategic collaboration to expand nation-building programmes in the state.

The initiative will focus on human capital development, patriotism and civic awareness in line with Sarawak’s development aspirations.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a courtesy call led by AKM director-general Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today (July 1).

The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to review the implementation of AKM’s nation-building programmes in Sarawak while exchanging views on new initiatives aimed at benefiting the people and further strengthening human capital development.

Discussions also centred on expanding collaboration in organising programmes to cultivate patriotism, strengthen national unity, enhance civic consciousness and instil love for the country, particularly among the younger generation as future leaders.

AKM in a statement said the direction of its nation-building programmes in Sarawak would continue to align with the state’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), supporting Sarawak’s aspiration of becoming a developed and high-income state by 2030 under Abang Johari’s leadership.

AKM also expressed its appreciation for the Sarawak government’s continued support and commitment in ensuring the success of various nation-building initiatives in the state.

It said the close cooperation would further strengthen efforts to build a strong national identity, foster unity and promote nationhood values in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.

AKM also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the state government in planning and implementing programmes that produce positive outcomes for the community while nurturing knowledgeable, ethical and united citizens with a strong sense of patriotism in support of both the Malaysia MADANI agenda and Sarawak’s vision of becoming a progressive and prosperous state.
