KUCHING: Fourteen young Sarawakian dancers from Alexis DanceSport Studio excelled in the recent ISTD Latin Medal Tests held in Kuching recently.
The dancers from Alexis DanceSport Studio Sarawak achieved impressive results in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing United Kingdom (ISTD) Latin Medal Tests held on November 26.
Examinations were conducted under the supervision of distinguished international examiner Malcolm Hill from the United Kingdom, in full accordance with official ISTD assessment standards, covering multiple medal levels and age divisions.
“14 candidates sat for the medal tests this year. At the Gold Medal Latin level, four candidates successfully completed the examination, with two awarded Commended and another two achieving Honours for demonstrating advanced technical consistency and performance maturity,” Alexis DanceSport Studio said through a press statement yesterday (Dec 9).
It said that all three dancers who took the Silver Medal Latin examination secured Honours, reflecting confident execution, musical accuracy and refined dance presentation throughout their performances.
“In the Pre-Bronze Dance Test (Latin), six candidates achieved Honours, with outstanding results recorded by Belle Wong who scored an exceptional 99 marks, while Ooi Shee Le and Bernice Cham each earned 98 marks.
“In addition, two young dancers successfully completed the Under-8 ISTD Medal Tests, demonstrating strong foundational skills, musical awareness and promising developmental potential in Latin dance.
These achievements reflect the professional training offered by Alexis DanceSport Studio, under the guidance of Coach Alexis Jap and Teacher Ker Sing, whose internationally aligned teaching approach emphasizes technical excellence alongside examination and competition readiness.
The studio said the success recorded this year further reinforces its determination to continuously improve educational standards and uphold excellence in Sarawak DanceSport education.
