KUCHING: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alexson Naga Chabu has officially taken over as the new Kuching police chief, effective Monday (Apr 21).
Alexson, who is the former Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, swapped places with ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, who is appointed as Miri police chief.
The handing over of duty ceremony, held at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters’ (IPK) Senior Officers’ Mess, was witnessed by state Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata.
The ceremony also included the rank conferment ceremony for Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) Nor Omar Sappi, who takes over as Head of Sarawak Internal Security and Public Order Department from Supt Samima Mustapha.
Aside from that, there was also the handing over of duties for the Kuching and Miri Police Family Association (Perkep) chairperson between Arabia Abdul Rahim and Josselyn Roland Demong. It was witnessed by Sarawak Perkep Welfare Bureau chief Puspawati Mohd Aris.
Following the ceremonies, Mancha congratulated the senior officers on their promotions and new appointments as department heads and district police chiefs.
“With these promotions and new responsibilities, all officers will continue to carry out their duties with integrity, professionalism and dedication to ensure public safety and order are always maintained,” he said.
He also expressed confidence that the new leadership line-up would rise to the challenges ahead and perform with excellence, in line with the aspirations of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to strengthen public trust and deliver excellent services.
