KUCHING: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) exponent from Sarawak, Alfaldo Riski Hendra, secured third place at the prestigious Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professional (AJP) Grand Slam in China recently, marking a major milestone in his sporting career.
Competing against top-ranked athletes from more than 30 countries, Alfaldo’s podium finish puts Sarawak and Malaysia on the map in one of the world’s toughest BJJ circuits.
“Winning third place at such a prestigious event is an incredible honour.
“I’m proud to represent Kuching and Malaysia on this stage, and I hope this achievement inspires more young people in Sarawak to pursue martial arts and competitive sports,” he told Sarawak Tribune via an email interview today.
The AJP Grand Slam is considered one of the leading professional tournaments for BJJ, offering athletes a pathway to international rankings and world championships.
Alfaldo’s achievement comes as more Malaysian martial artists gain recognition on the global stage, showcasing the region’s growing talent and potential.
He is now preparing for upcoming international competitions while continuing his efforts to promote BJJ in Sarawak.
