Xiaomi’s Poco brand is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated F7 series next week. These new devices are set to be the successors to last year’s Poco F6 and F6 Pro, and they aim to continue the brand’s reputation as a “flagship killer.” Poco has officially unveiled the first images of its upcoming flagship duo – the F7 Pro and F7 Ultra – which appear to be rebranded versions of the Redmi K80 series.

Display and design
According to leaked specifications from 91Mobiles, both the Poco F7 Pro and F7 Ultra will feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 3200×1400 pixels. As seen in the official images, both devices have a conventional candy bar design with a circular, off-centre camera bump. However, the Ultra model features a slightly raised rear glass panel with rounded edges, and its camera module appears to be slightly thicker.

Performance and storage
The Poco F7 Pro is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and storage options of either 256GB or 512GB. The F7 Ultra, on the other hand, will come equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It will offer two configurations: 12GB RAM with 256GB storage or 16GB RAM with 512GB storage.

Camera setup
The camera capabilities of these two models differ significantly. The F7 Pro is expected to feature a dual-camera system, consisting of a 50MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. In contrast, the F7 Ultra will boast a more advanced triple-camera setup, which includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 32MP ultra-wide camera.

For selfies, the F7 Pro is rumoured to have a 20MP front-facing camera, while the Ultra model will feature a higher resolution 32MP front camera.

Durability and battery

Both devices are expected to be IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. The Poco F7 Pro is likely to house a substantial 6,000mAh battery, supporting 120W fast wired charging. The F7 Ultra, while packing a slightly smaller 5,300mAh battery, will support the same 120W fast wired charging but will also offer 50W wireless charging.

Pricing and availability
As a reference, last year’s Poco F6 had a starting price of RM1,799 (Early bird: RM1,559), while the F6 Pro was priced from RM2,299 (Early bird: RM2,059). The new Poco F7 series is expected to be a compelling alternative to Xiaomi’s 14T series, which runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300-Ultra and 9300+ chipsets.

The global launch of the Poco F7 series is scheduled to take place in Singapore on 27th March 2025. The event will be streamed live at 4 PM local time via Mi.com and Poco’s official YouTube channel. Given Malaysia’s importance as a key market, the F7 series is expected to be available in local online stores shortly after the global launch, accompanied by early bird pricing offers.

Additional perks
According to the official Poco F7 event page in Malaysia, buyers will receive several exclusive benefits, including:
A 1+1 year extended warranty
6 months of Google One 100GB Cloud Storage (for the F7 Ultra)
Free one-time screen repair or repair service within the first six months
Additional rewards that can be redeemed using the device’s IMEI number

With its high-end specifications and competitive pricing, the Poco F7 series could be Malaysia’s most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered flagship smartphone. Tech enthusiasts and Poco fans alike will no doubt be eager to see how it stacks up against the competition.
