SIBU: Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) accounting programme alumni are important assets to the younger generation and a testament to MPI’s belief in providing affordable education.
Speaking at the Accounting Alumni Reunion Lunch at the campus on April 26, principal Dr Lu Huong Ying said these alumni shine in their respective portfolios and career paths.
She said MPI had always been very proud of the alumni, especially those who had shared their success stories.
“Let us know how, together with MPI, we can continue with this legacy of providing affordable and high-quality education to the younger generation.
“You have enjoyed this privilege of getting an education at a very affordable price, and your achievement is the testament to MPI’s belief in providing affordable and quality education.
“And we believe that MPI’s mission remains the same,” she said.
Some 26 alumni and nine lecturers from the various accounting programmes participated in the reunion lunch.
Quoting the previous MPI Principal, Judy Wong, Dr Lu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), reminded those from MPI and the alumni that integrity should be their foundation in all their undertakings.
She said their careers call for that kind of value.
Thus, she said, people should be their focus, learning should be their passion, and they should always pursue excellence.
She urged those who had completed accounting programmes to always strive for higher qualifications, such as those offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
