KUALA LUMPUR: The 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and the country’s socioeconomic policies topped the agenda during a courtesy call by Deputy Minister of Economy, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, on Second Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, here today.
During the meeting, Hanifah reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with Amir Hamzah in advancing key initiatives under the Ministry of Economy to drive national development and enhance the well-being of the rakyat.
“I welcomed his appointment and emphasised the importance of policy continuity to ensure the success of comprehensive economic reforms for the benefit of the people and the nation’s prosperity,” she said in a statement issued after the meeting, which took place at the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) headquarters.
Amir Hamzah’s appointment sees him taking on the task of spearheading the restructuring of 13MP to better align with current fiscal challenges and development priorities.
The revised direction of 13MP is expected to focus on sustainable policies, quality investment and economic empowerment for the rakyat.
His appointment follows the resignation of former Minister of Economy, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who stepped down after his defeat in last month’s Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) election. – TVS
