KUCHING: The recent floods in Sarawak have been described as the worst in recent memory, leaving a trail of destruction across multiple districts. In the wake of this disaster, generous individuals and organisations have come together to provide much-needed aid to affected communities.
In a heartfelt message, the Bishop of the Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei, the Rt Revd Datuk Danald Jute, expressed deep gratitude to those who responded to his flood relief appeal.
“Words cannot sufficiently express our deepest appreciation and gratitude. Thank you very much is all I can say. May you be richly blessed as you have blessed many others,” he stated in a Facebook post today (Feb 5).
Danald, who personally visited flood-stricken areas in Bintulu, shared that the relief efforts have extended beyond the town, reaching Batu Niah, Miri, Julau, and several other affected regions. He described the widespread devastation and the heartbreaking impact on local communities, emphasising the importance of collective action in times of crisis.
“Your kindness and generosity have been a ray of sunshine,” he said, acknowledging the outpouring of support from various individuals and groups.
As recovery efforts continue, volunteers and donors remain committed to assisting flood victims in rebuilding their lives.
