PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg have reached an agreement to resolve the long-standing issues between PETRONAS and PETROS through negotiations.
Discussions for the negotiations were made yesterday (May 9) at Perdana Putra here, which was also attended by top leaders from both oil and gas companies.
In a statement issued yesterday, both leaders agreed to finalise the core principles guiding the negotiations in the near future, aligning with previous agreements and facilitating a smoother process for resolving outstanding issues between the two companies.
The collaboration not only aims to fully explore the potential of the PETRONAS-PETROS partnership but also includes efforts to fast-track energy supply to ASEAN countries.
Both the Federal and Sarawak governments agreed that any unresolved issues from the past will be addressed through continued negotiation.
