KUCHING: The Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) is set for its official launch this September, with both the Prime Minister and the Premier confirmed to attend.
Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the event is scheduled for September 11.
“We have sent invitations, and as of today, there is confirmation that the Prime Minister and the Premier will attend a location along the SSLR,” he said during a press conference at the Sarawak Facility Management Industry Engagement Day 2025 today.
The SSLR project, carried out in phases, will see its second phase launched in the Limbang area.
Nanta noted that September also marks one year since the letter of acceptance for the road construction contract was issued to the company handling the work.
Phase 2 of the SSLR spans about 322 kilometres and includes major infrastructure developments such as the second Sungai Limbang Bridge, which is expected to be completed by April 2026.
The completion of SSLR Phase 2 is expected to transform rural communities by providing safer and more efficient road access, reducing travel time on risky gravel roads and river routes, and boosting tourism and economic activity in the region.
