BETONG: The Betong Civil Defence Force (APM) successfully captured a 350-kg, 10-foot-long crocodile after it was found trapped beneath a house at Kampung Rumah Haji Sharbinie, Beladin here on Wednesday.
Betong APM Officer, Captain Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim, said the team was alerted to the incident by members of the public who spotted the reptile in a drain during high tide and feared for the safety of nearby residents.
“Upon arriving at the scene, our personnel immediately prepared the necessary equipment and safety gear before carrying out the capture operation,” she said in a statement.
She then stated that the team managed to snare the crocodile, estimated to be the size of a drum, after locating it hiding under one of the houses in the village.
The crocodile was later handed over to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Sarikei for further action.
