KOTA SAMARAHAN: Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang conducted a working visit to the District Operations Control Centre on Monday to assess the readiness level of the Samarahan Civil Defence Force (APM) in facing the ongoing Northeast Monsoon.

During the visit, he received a detailed briefing on manpower strength, asset deployment, operational action plans, flood hotspot locations and inter-agency coordination to ensure swift and effective response during disasters.

Idris was also briefed on the operational challenges frequently encountered by APM during the monsoon season, including the activation of temporary evacuation centres (PPS), evacuation of victims, logistics management and the preparedness of boats and four-wheel-drive vehicles for operations in high-risk areas.

As a gesture of appreciation to frontline personnel, he presented dry food and beverages for the use of APM staff at the centre.

“APM plays a very important role, especially during the monsoon season. I truly appreciate the efficiency and dedication of APM members who are always prepared for any eventuality,” he said.

He stressed that early preparedness was crucial to ensure rescue operations could be carried out promptly and in an orderly manner, particularly as Samarahan remained one of the areas frequently affected by floods during prolonged heavy rain.
