SIBU: A large bee nest high up on a tree along Jalan New Maling on the West Bank here was removed on Monday night (Jan 5) in the interest of resident safety there.
The operation was carried out by Civil Defence Force (APM) along with the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch team, led by its Chairman, Kevin Lau, together with Kapitan Lau Sie Kwong.
According to Lau, who is also SUPP Youth Central Chief, several days earlier, he had received feedback from residents at Jalan New Maling regarding the bee nest which had raised serious concerns.
After assessing the situation and coordinating with the relevant parties, arrangements were made for APM personnel to carry out the removal operation, with assistance from Kapitan Lau Sie Kwong.
“I would like to extend my special thanks to Kapitan Lau Sie Kwong for going the extra mile by driving his skylift all the way from town to support APM in the high-altitude operation, which enabled the task to be carried out smoothly,” he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong and members of the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) Sg.Sadit Kanan for their cooperation.
He added that after completing the operation, the team proceeded to a nearby resident’s house to assist in removing another bee nest on a fruit tree within the residential compound.
