KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak has opened applications for its flagship scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic session, with priority given to students in high-demand fields, including science, technology and healthcare.
Applications for the Yayasan Sarawak Tun Taib Scholarship (BYSTT) and the Yayasan Sarawak Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship (YBSTAR) open on April 20 and will close on May 29 at 4pm.
The scholarships target Sarawakian students pursuing full-time studies at recognised higher education institutions locally or abroad, with applicants required to have secured an offer of admission.
According to the official guidelines, priority will be given to courses aligned with strategic workforce needs, including engineering, information technology, medical and health sciences, life sciences, food technology, psychology, construction, finance and law.
Candidates must also demonstrate strong academic performance, with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or equivalent, alongside leadership qualities, co-curricular involvement and community contribution.
Applicants will undergo a selection process that includes evaluation by a panel, which will assess academic merit, leadership potential and overall suitability.
The scholarships are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Undergraduate sponsorship is limited to local institutions, whereas postgraduate candidates may pursue studies overseas, particularly at top global universities.
Applications must be submitted online via the Yayasan Sarawak portal, with all supporting documents uploaded in certified true copy format.
Late applications will not be considered.
Yayasan Sarawak has advised candidates to carefully review all requirements before applying to ensure eligibility and compliance with the intake criteria.
