KUCHING: Bowling is all about the rhythm and technique – while one may struggle at first, it is rewarding when they finally master it.
This was the advice given by Borneo Development Corporation (BDC) Sarawak’s sports and recreation club president Hazwan Burhanudin to staff members, urging them to take lessons learnt in bowling and apply it to their work.
“I hope we can adapt the bowling approach in our daily tasks given the enormous trust given by the state government and clients in handling their projects,” he said at an internal bowling tournament by the corporation recently.
He said BDC is well known for its work to develop projects with both Kenyalang Park and Satria BDC Development, being a testament to this.
He said the competition incorporates a number of techniques such as floating, hydroplaning and spinning counterclockwise along a trajectory with the objective of obtaining a perfect score.
“The get together reflects the importance of timing in everything we do. When your timing is right, when your arms, legs, and torso all move in one rhythm toward the lane, you have better balance.
“When you’re balanced, you’re also more accurate. By contrast, if your timing and balance are off, you won’t hit your target”.
The bowling tournament was the third of its kind in 30 years of BDC Sarawak being incorporated.
A total of thirteen teams participated in the in-house competition held at Megalanes Bowling, King Centre here.
The event also marked a parting farewell for two retiring staff, Yong Sieng Hong and Inie Bujang, both of whom have contributed tremendously to BDC Sarawak.
