ASAJAYA: Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has advised Saberkas branches to apply for allocations that would be used later to help the community.
“So far we have received several applications and the number is expected to increase in the near future.
“For this purpose, Saberkas has agreed to allocate RM3,000 to each branch for a total of RM246,000 under the Saberkas Prihatin programme,” the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) president said, commenting on the programme that was launched on March 8.
He officiated at the Saberkas Jerayawara Bubur Lambuk 2021 and Saberkas Prihatin programmes for the Asajaya constituency on Tuesday (May 4) here.
The Sarawak Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, and Youth and Sports Minister also called on members to continue their efforts to forge closer ties with the community, especially the youths.
“Hopefully, more Saberkas members in Asajaya and also in other areas will continue to undertake such efforts so that more people, especially the youths, will benefit from them in the future.”
Abdul Karim stressed that Saberkas would continue to help the community, especially those affected by natural disasters, economic uncertainties or social issues.
For this year’s Saberkas bubur lambuk programme, he said each branch was given RM1,000 from an allocation of RM64,000.
“This year, 64 locations have been selected for the programme and is expected to be the largest organised so far after it was first introduced 17 years ago.”
Also present during the event were Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang, Telang Usan assemblyman and Saberkas vice-president Dennis Ngau, Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben and Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo.
