KUCHING: The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) remains the primary recipient of the Sumbangsih Raya contributions, receiving 4,500 out of the 12,000 allocated packs this year.

ATM was also the first organisation to receive the aid when the programme was introduced 35 years ago and has continued to benefit from it ever since.

Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah highlighted the longstanding partnership between the state government and ATM in ensuring that military personnel and their families receive support, particularly during festive seasons.

Speaking at the Ziarah Sumbangsih Raya event here today at the First Infantry Division, Muara Tuang Camp in Kota Samarahan, she emphasised that the initiative not only provides material aid but also strengthens the relationship between the state government and ATM personnel.

“Previously, we could only observe from a distance, but now we have the chance to work more closely with them for the benefit of their families and future generations,” she said.

As announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the Sumbangsih Raya programme will now be held three times a year.

With Chinese New Year already passed, the remaining distributions for this year will take place during Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
