MIRI: A double-storey house in Pujut 5 was broken into around 2.30am this early morning (April 6) by two men armed with machetes.
The burglars stole a Toyota Fortuner, electronic goods including a 42-inch flat-screen television and two smart phones.
According to Miri Residents Committee (RC) chairman, Malateh Mahmud, only the houseowner in his 70s and a maid were inside when the burglary happened.
“Both were asleep when the break-in happened,” he said.
“The house owner was shocked and hapless when the burglars broke into his bedroom on the first floor,” he said.
Fearing for his and his maid’s safety, the man merely watched while the burglars-turned robbers searched for valuables in his bedroom.
After the robbers left, the shaken man called the police, and soon after that Malateh and six men rushed to the house.
Malateh said a report was lodged about 4am by the house owner’s son at Miri Central Police station (CPS).
The police quickly went into a manhunt mode before the trails of the robbers got cold.
