KUCHING: Arts and beauty are no longer just about aesthetics – they are fast becoming viable pathways to professional careers, entrepreneurship and economic growth for Sarawak.
This vision will take centre stage at the upcoming Arts and Beauty Showcase scheduled for September 19 here, bringing together local practitioners and educators from across the industry.
Enterprise Growth Consultant and Trainer, Chris Fam, who leads the initiative, said the showcase aims to shift public perception of the industry from basic service provision to a respected field of skills development and business development.
“A skill can become a profession. A profession can become a business, and a business can create opportunities for others,” said Fam in a recent statement, who is also the founder of Chris’s Consultancy Firm.
Fam, who transitioned from the beauty sector into professional training and business consultancy, emphasised that developing hands-on expertise is particularly vital for the younger generation looking to build sustainable long-term careers.
The showcase features a prominent lineup of industry leaders, including internationally acclaimed Sarawakian tattoo artist, Eric Kueh, whose award-winning work in London and Perpignan, France, highlights the global reach of local artistic talent.
Other participating practitioners include tattoo artist James Lim, professional makeup artist Phu Chek, eyelash extension educator Angeline and nail art educator Amy Wee.
By bringing together diverse talents, the event highlights how creativity, technical skill, and professional knowledge can combine to unlock new entrepreneurial and employment opportunities throughout the state.
