KUCHING: The 2nd Inter-Club Swimming Competition wrapped up on a high note as Amateur Swimming Association of Sarawak (ASAS) president Datuk Wee Hong Seng praised the determination and unity shown by Sarawak’s swimming community.
Held at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre from May 10 to 12, the competition brought together 218 swimmers from various clubs, each displaying skill, passion, and perseverance.
In his closing speech, Wee reflected on the competition’s journey since its inaugural edition in 2022, held just two years after the COVID-19 pandemic had halted swimming activities across the state.
“Back then, PASC stepped up to give our young swimmers a much-needed platform to return to the pool and showcase their potential. And now, here we are again,” he said.
He noted that the meet had grown into more than just a competition — it now stands as a symbol of resilience and community.
“Even in tough times, the swimming community stood strong and kept moving forward,” he said in his address on Monday during the closing ceremony.
Wee also thanked all swimmers for their discipline and dedication, reminding them that participation alone was an achievement.
“To the organisers, volunteers, coaches, and parents, thank you for your commitment behind the scenes,” he said.
Also present at the closing ceremony were Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) president Kapitan Tan Kun Gee and organising chairperson Voon Yong Hui.
