KUCHING: The recent Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2023 was a golden opportunity for the Azam Young Souls (AYS) to hone their skills.
AZAM Sarawak development community officer Amirul Syafiq said about 24 youths, comprising AYS and AZAM Sarawak officers, volunteered for the three-day event.
“Among other things, their duties covered attending to the delegates who included foreign film makers and celebrities. The youths learned to apply and polish their communication and social skills. Additionally, the young volunteers applied their problem-solving skills on issues such as logistics.
“AIFFA Festival director Livan Tajang thanked the organisation for sending AYS to join the squad volunteers to assist during the event. She said the volunteers also served as young AIFFA ambassadors contributing to Sarawak as a whole,” Amirul said.
Originating from diverse backgrounds including students, undergraduates, and young professionals across the public and private sectors, the AYS volunteers epitomised the collaborative spirit of Sarawak’s youth, he said.
Livan Tajang presented a partnership trophy to the Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) deputy chief executive officer Rosalind Misieng at the AZAM office today.
Rosalind thanked AIFFA for its role in providing an avenue for local youths to learn and contribute within the international event sphere, underlining how such experiences provide personal and professional growth while simultaneously contributing to the creative industry’s advancement.
AZAM’s involvement with AIFFA has become a recurrent chapter, marking the fourth occasion the organisation has been invited to provide youth volunteers for this distinguished event, she said.
