KUCHING: Dancers from Tyng Dance Academy (TDA) have brought pride to Sarawak after securing multiple wins at the Asian Elite Dance Competition held in Kuala Lumpur from March 26 to 29.

Competing at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), the team clinched two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, alongside several finalist placements and top rankings.

In a further boost, TDA dancer Geraldine Su Wei Ting was awarded a scholarship to the 2026 International Elite Arts Festival.

The achievement underscores Sarawak’s growing presence in the performing arts, with the dancers demonstrating strong technical ability, artistic maturity, and stage presence on a national competitive platform.

TDA founder and principal Chan Tyng Tyng said the success reflects years of structured training and disciplined development among the dancers.

“This achievement is not about medals alone. It reflects what is possible when young dancers are nurtured within a structured and supportive environment that prioritises both discipline and artistic understanding,” she said.

She added that the academy remains committed to raising standards in dance education while creating more opportunities for young talents to grow locally and internationally.

The competition outcome highlights the emergence of a new generation of Sarawakian dancers equipped with both technical skills and a strong artistic foundation, signalling the state’s rising influence in the national dance scene.
