KUCHING: Amanah Saham Sarawak (ASSAR) recorded a total dividend return of 6 sen per unit for the financial year ending June 30, 2025, consisting of an interim dividend of 3 sen per unit and a final dividend of another 3 sen per unit.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the second distribution, following the interim payout in January, will involve a total payment of RM14.52 million to 57,870 investors, based on unit holdings as of June 30, 2025.

“This means there is a surplus income of RM12 million, which will be retained as reserves to support ASSAR’s income in the next financial period.

“Therefore, the total dividend return for the financial year ending June 30, 2025, is 6 sen per unit, with a total payout amounting to RM28.76 million.

“I believe this is encouraging news for existing ASSAR investors, and I hope it will inspire greater interest and participation in investing, particularly among Sarawak Bumiputera communities,” he said during the dividend announcement at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) today.

In addition to the competitive dividend distribution, Abang Johari highlighted that ASSAR remains a safe, low-risk investment instrument, supported by a guaranteed minimum price mechanism of RM1.00 per unit.

He saif ASSAR’s Net Asset Value (NAV) stood at RM1.12 per unit as of June 30, 2025 – a marginal year-on-year decline of 0.44%.

He described this performance as impressive, especially when compared to the FBMKLCI Index, which fell by a sharper 3.6 per cent over the same period.

Meanwhile, he stated that ASSAR’s total gross income for the financial year was RM38.39 million, with 43 per cent (RM16.35 million) coming from interest on fixed-income securities, 36 per cent (RM13.96 million) from gains on equity sales, 13 per cent (RM5.15 million) from equity dividends, and the remaining 8 per cent (RM2.93 million) from money market interest and profits from fixed-income securities sales.

“After deducting total expenses of RM5.70 million, ASSAR’s net income stood at RM32.69 million,” he said.

Abang Johari added that ASSAR’s policy only allows dividend distributions from realised income, including surplus earnings carried over from the previous financial year.

“Therefore, taking into account the RM8.06 million surplus from the previous financial year and adjusting for the RM14.23 million interim dividend paid for 2025, the total distributable income as of June 30, 2025, amounts to RM26.52 million,” he said.
