KUALA LUMPUR: The National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (Aswara) is set to host the 2025 PeTA (Final-Year Assessment) Festival, featuring creative works by its final-year diploma and bachelor’s degree students from various faculties within the institution.

Festival PeTA 2025 coordinator Dr Norsafini Jaafar said the annual festival will include contributions from the Faculties of Dance, Music, Theatre, Fine Arts, Creative Writing and Film, Animation, Arts Management, and the Traditional Performing Arts Centre. It will be held on Aswara’s campus here from June 28 to July 6.

“This is a significant and defining moment that showcases the students’ credibility through the evaluation of their final projects, witnessed by audiences and visitors throughout the festival.

“PeTA is not only a platform to assess students’ technical and artistic abilities but also a reflection of the voices of a new generation on current issues and community culture,” she said in a statement.

Norsafini, who is also the dean of the Faculty of Dance, added that the festival is also an open space for the public and industry players to discover emerging talents in the various art disciplines offered at Aswara.

“We hope this festival will continue to ignite a passion for the arts and broaden cultural appreciation among Malaysians,” she said.

Among the festival’s main highlights is the Aswara Open Day on June 28, featuring various interactive activities and art exhibitions. Information on Aswara’s academic programmes will also be made available to the public on this day.

Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy stage performances by students from the Faculties of Dance, Music, Theatre, and Creative Writing and Film. There will also be visual and digital art exhibitions covering two-dimensional works, three-dimensional pieces, animations and short films.

A series of two-hour open workshops will be conducted by each faculty, offering learning opportunities for both students and the general public.– BERNAMA
