KUCHING: Hometown talent, Asyraff Zakaris, has surged to the top of the Malaysia Premier Futsal League (MPFL) Division 2 scoring charts following two standout performances that saw him net seven goals in just two matches for PFA Odin Sarawak.

The 20-year-old striker, who hails from Kampung Nombor, Kuching, scored an incredible four goals in a 5-5 draw against Pulau Pinang last weekend, before delivering a hat-trick in his team’s 4-2 win over Kelantan FT.

His scoring spree has taken his season tally to 14 goals, placing him ahead of Pahang Rangers FC B’s Fakhrurrozi Awang, who has 10 goals, in the race for the league’s Golden Boot.

PFA Odin Sarawak, with a game in hand, currently sits fourth in the standings with 22 points – level with second-placed Terengganu, and just three points behind league leaders, USMKK FC.

“I just focus on training, discipline, and giving my best in every match.

“I follow the coach’s strategy and try to learn from every mistake to keep improving,” Asyraff told Sarawak Tribune when contacted today.

A product of local futsal circuits, Asyraff began playing at the age of ten, and has since developed into a versatile and instinctive forward.

His attacking partnership with teammates has made PFA Odin one of the highest-scoring sides in the division.

He draws inspiration from fellow Sarawakian and former Pahang Rangers player, Iskandar Harun, as well as ex-Penang FA goalkeeper, Mohd Faezwan, both of whom he looks up to as role models.

Asyraff’s red-hot form has not gone unnoticed, with fans praising his clinical finishing, composure under pressure, and relentless work ethic.

“Scoring four goals against Pulau Pinang was a personal highlight.

“But every match is a new challenge. I’m just grateful for the support from my teammates and the coaching staff,” he added.

The next hurdle for Asyraff and PFA Odin Sarawak comes on July 19, when they take on Canaan FC in what could be a crucial match in their promotion push.

With momentum on his side and hometown pride in his heart, Asyraff Zakaris is fast becoming one of Sarawak’s most exciting football prospects.
